Press Release

DAYVILLE, CT  USA - (September 11, 2012) – Putnam Plastics Corporation, a leader in advanced extrusion for minimally invasive medical devices, has added variable pitch braid and coil reinforcement to its portfolio of variable flexibility medical catheter shaft technologies.  These continuous manufacturing technologies are designed to reduce cost and improve product performance of complex shafts traditionally assembled manually. Variable braiding or coiling can also be used in conjunction with geometric tapering or sequential polymer extrusion of distinct materials to enhance pushability and torque of catheters while maintaining flexibility to navigate vascular pathways deeper in the body.

DAYVILLE, CT  USA - (June 15, 2012) – Putnam Plastics Corporation, a leader in advanced extrusion for minimally invasive medical devices, has developed a line of polymer marker bands for fluoroscopic illumination of catheter tips used in minimally invasive medical procedures.  These bands reduce costs by eliminating traditional gold or platinum marker bands and offer greater adhesion to catheter shaft tips.

DAYVILLE, CT,  USA - (May 15, 2012) - Putnam Plastics Corporation, a leader in advanced extrusions for minimally invasive medical devices, has developed a proprietary process for manufacturing custom monofilament fibers up to 0.100 inches (2.54 mm) in diameter from performance materials such as nylon and polypropylene.  Oriented, large diameter fibers offer substantial strength properties to replace metals in applications that require x-ray transparency or non-magnetic properties for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) applications.

DAYVILLE, CT, USA – (December 7, 2011) – Putnam Plastics Corporation, a PolyMedex Discovery Group company and leader in advanced extrusions for minimally invasive medical devices, has eliminated the traditional hand lay-up manufacturing process of medical guide catheter shafts with their new Tri-Tie™ extrusion technology.

Putnam, CT, USA – (April 1, 2010) – Putnam Plastics, a PolyMedex Discovery Group company, increases its breadth of services to minimally invasive devices companies by launching a new Custom Components business. The business primarily focuses on printing and forming of catheter extrusions and extends the company’s range of custom solutions to device manufacturers, which currently includes specialty polymers, compounds, extrusions, and drug delivery solutions.
